Valley of Flowers Trek is extremely vast, furnished with never-ending meadows and was declared a national park in 1982. Now it is a World Heritage Site. Altitude is – 12140 feet If you didn’t know It is home to endangered species and rare animals. From the Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, musk bear, brown bear to red fox and blue sheep and even birds, you will also find high altitude birds like Himalayan Monal Pheasant Think of the days when your eyes glued to one of the most charming valleys of Uttarakhand, India during the monsoon season. Valley of flowers will literally rejuvenate your soul and you will reminisce about your journey. The valley not only is welcoming you with flowers but on the way get to witness huge gorge and small streams flowing by. Day 2– Afterward Drive from Joshimath to Govindghat by taxi (18 km) (01 Hours) same day trek to Ghangaria (09 km) (5/6 Hours) (Altitude –10101 feet

Day 3– Trek from Ghangaria to Valley of flowers (10 km) (7/8 Hours) Altitude – 12140 feet back to Ghangaria Hotel

Day 4– Trek from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib (12 km) (7/8 Hours) 14,100 feet) back to Hotel

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pickup from Haridwar Railway Station and Drive to Joshimath (base camp) by taxi

Total distance – 257 km – 10/11 Hours journey

Trek on India organizes transport for trekkers from Haridwar Railway Station in the morning which will leave for Sankri around 6:00 am to 7:00 am.

Today start your journey with team Trek on India from Haridwar,

The drive to Joshimath is 10/11 hours long, along the sacred rivers – Alaknanda, Mandakini and Ganga. Devprayag is en route at the confluence of river Bhagirathi and Alaknanda. This is beautiful place

The journey won’t get boring because there are sudden changes in the scenery as you go further.

Reach Joshimath base camp, relax in a hotel, in the evening you can explore nearby areas. Get back, have dinner and enjoy comfortable stay in the hotel.

Day 2: Drive from Joshimath to Govindghat by taxi (18 km) (1 Hours) same day trek to Ghangaria

Total distance – 09 km – 5/6 Hours journey

Mode of journey – On foot

Altitude Ghangaria – 10,101 feet

Night Stay – Hotel – on twin share basis

Post breakfast, the drive will be towards Govindghat. Start trekking from Govindghat on a neat trail which is always in a very good condition because it is swept by the volunteers’ every day.

Walk along the riverside through the sunny and shaded parts from Poolna to Ghangaria. Cross a river to get to the other side, continue hiking and later see a tabular land which indicates that Ghangaria is near.

Ghangaria has a helipad and space for camping. Ahead lies Ghangaria village, there are restaurants, hotels and a Gurudwara which offers food and accommodation overnight stay Hotel

 

Day 3: Trek from Ghangaria to Valley of flowers Trek Distance – 10 km – 7/8 Hours journey

Mode of journey – On foot

Altitude – Valley of flowers – 12,140 feet

Night Stay – Hotel – on twin share basis

Today, you will be trekking to a World Heritage Site and National Park of Flowers. Post breakfast leave with packed lunch Ghangaria and come across the entry gate of the valley of flowers national park.

Get in and witness the impeccable beauty of the carpeted flowers. A kilometer ahead is a bridge over a gushing stream. Now, look at any direction and it looks just perfect! Cross a bridge and try to count the number of colorful flowers you’ll see.

The towering mountains can be seen overlooking the valley making the sight spell binding. Go deep and get mesmerized by the scented flowers, the valley stretches from 6-7 km until a glacier comes into sight.

July and August are peak months to visit the valley of flowers, the prominent flowers that you will see are – Blue Poppy, Dog flower, Hooked stick seed, Snake foil, Meadow Geranium and Himalayan Rose.

Have lunch and after exploration get back to hotel in Ghangaria.

 

Day 4 : Trek from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib 14,100 feet) back to Hotel Trek Distance – 12 km – 7/8 Hours journey

Mode of journey – On foot

Altitude – Hemkund Sahib Ji – 14,100feet

Night Stay – Hotel – on twin share basis

Leave Ghangaria early before 6:00 am. The Gurudwara starts at 5:00 am and people recite chorus outside Gurudwara gate. So get ready with a poncho and head to Hemkund Sahib.

The path is steep, climb gradually and come across a cascading waterfall on the right. The tree line recedes and the views get clearer and ahead lies a melting glacier. To prevent altitude sickness takes proper rest breaks but do not sit down because it will make trekking ahead difficult. 

After a strenuous climb reach the Gurudwara “Hemkund Sahib Ji”. Behind it lies a lake which remains frozen for 6 months.           Go inside the Gurudwara, have tea there and explore the surroundings. The Hemkund Lake is clear, serene and peaceful. Brahama Kamals grow in abundance around this Lake.

After spending good time there, get down to Ghangaria by descending on steep terrain. 

 

Day 5: Trek from Ghangaria to Govind Ghat (09km) same day drive to Joshimath (18 km) (1/2 Hours) Trek Distance – 09 km – 5/6 Hours journey

Mode of journey – On foot

Night Stay – Hotel – on twin share basis

After breakfast with packed lunch trek from Ghangaria get back to Govindghat and from there drive down to Joshimath. Overnight stay Hotel.

 

Day 6: Drive from Joshimath to Haridwar via Rishikesh by taxi Trek Distance –258 km – 9/10 Hours journey

Today last breakfast with Trek on India After breakfast leave early 07. Am, have your lunch en route and you can reach Haridwar evening 5 to 6 Pm

What kind of food does Tonybikecentre provide?

Tonybikecentre India provides Indian vegetarian food. Your typical meal will consist of roti (Indian bread), sabzi (vegetable), dal (lentils) and rice. Add to it a sumptuous dessert

We serve three meals a day – breakfast, lunch and dinner. Apart from that, you’ll get tea and snacks in the evening and a hot cup of soup before dinner. If you’re in for a long day of trekking, you’ll get a packed snack as well.

Our menu is designed after elaborate research on nutritional requirements for trekkers. We take the exercise put in, the altitude gained and the weather you’ll face into consideration before putting each meal together. You’ll notice that every meal is nutritionally well-balanced with the right amount of carbs, protein, vitamins, fibre and calories.

IMPORTANT POINTS:

  • Minimum age of the rider for this tour should be 19 years.
  • Minimum Trekker required to start a tour is
  • The tour can be cancelled if, the riders are less than 10 in number, per group.
  • If, any Trekker wants to leave the tour in between then he has to pay the transportation cost from the leaving point till Dehradun.
  • Trekker must have proper gears for the tour or they will not be allowed to join the group.
