ABOUT THE TREK

Lord Shiva is the incomparable most god in Hinduism(Supreme), subsequently too named as Mahadev {the god of the divine beings (Gods of Gods)}. CHOPTA

TUNGNATH

Tungnath is one of the most elevated Shiva sanctuaries within the world and is the most elevated of the five Panch Kedar sanctuaries found within the mountain run of Tungnath. The Tungnath (strict meaning: Ruler of the crests) mountains frame the Mandakini and Alaknanda stream valleys. It is found at a height of 3,680 m (12,073 ft), and fair underneath the top of Chandrashila and is the third (Tritiya Kedar) within the pecking arrange of the Panch Kedars. Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Drive from Delhi (242 Km Drive- 6-7 Hours)

The first day will be Drive from Delhi to Rishikesh. We will start from Delhi in the morning (Time and place will be shared on WhatsApp Group 6 days before the trek) reach Rishikesh by 1-2 pm. Stay will be in cottage Tents or guest houses. Snacks will be ready on reaching Rishikesh, Rafting 16km, Dinner will be around 8 to 9 pm, till now enjoy the night beauty of rishikesh.No meals included During Transport

Day 2: Continue Drive to Sonprayag (230km-8-10 Hours’ Drive)

After Taking breakfast from Rishikesh we will head towards Sonprayag, there will be a packed lunch or hault somewhere in the middle to have lunch, we will reach Sonprayag in evening for snack time and stay in the guest house. Dinner at Sonprayag Stay: Hotel with sharing rooms.

 

Day 3: Drive to Gaurikund & Trek to Kedarnath (5km Drive & 19km Trek)

We start early morning around 5 a.m. from Sonprayag and head towards Gaurikund. Before we start we shall have our breakfast. In Gaurikund there are hot water springs. You can enjoy that for the time being. From Gaurikund our actual trek begins which is approximately 19 kms to Kedarnath temple.

This is a steep trek. It’s a moderate level trek which requires good physical fitness. Before the trek begins the physical fitness of every visitor is checked there. People having respiratory issues and high blood pressure must avoid this trek. It’s a high altitude trek; hence. While trekking we can see snow clad mountains from a distance. Despite all the hardships, the beauty of this trek is astounding. This valley is surrounded by glaciers and waterfalls. The cool breeze and the scenic views are heavenly.

You will forget all the worldly worries and your heart would be filled with sheer happiness. In 5-6 hours

i.e. at around 3 p.m. we shall reach Kedarnath Valley. Now we shall have our lunch and rest. In the evening we can attend the evening “Aarti” or prayer at the temple. The evening aarti lasts for one hour. Let your soul get drenched in the sacred vibes of prayers and let your spirituality take you to a different world of faith and divinity. It gets quite cold here at night. This night at the valley is a special one as you can feel the sacredness inside and outside of you. Overnight stay just near to temple in hotel or Tents on sharing basis. Meals: – Dinner & Breakfast

 

Day 4: Descend Back & Drive to Chopta (76km-4Hours)

Next morning at 5 a.m. the morning prayers begin. You can see the beautiful golden rays of the rising sun falling on the temple. We must stand in the queue for our turn to worship (for Darshan) and to offer the offering to lord Shiva. Once we are done with morning prayer at the temple, we shall head back to Sonprayag and come to Chopta. We shall reach by 07-09 pm if the group descends on time. We will stay in a very beautiful campsite in Chopta. Chopta is an unspoiled raw beautiful destination lying in the lap of the Uttarakhand Himalayas and stunning views of the imposing Himalayan range including Trishul, Nanda Devi and Chaukhamba. It is located at an elevation of 2,680 metres (8,790 ft) above sea level. Chopta village is surrounded by forests of pine, Deodar and rhododendron and is rich in flora and fauna including rare species of birds and musk deer. We will camp here for a night.

We will stay at night in a camping tent while using a sleeping bag. sure it will be a new experience for those who have never slept in a sleeping bag. Meals: snacks, Dinner and early morning Tea, breakfast at Chopta

 

Day 5: Trek to Tungnath and Drive to Rishikesh (5 Km Trek & 220 Km Drive- 8-12 Hours)

We are going to wake up early in the morning and star trek out for so beautiful Tungnath. This is the world’s highest Shiva Temple. This is an easy 3.5 km trek. You will find clouds underneath you while you ascend to Temple. We will also plan for Chandshilla if the group is active and ready to trek more. There will be endless and unmatchable beauty of the great Himalayas range surrounding this place. Tungnath is one of the highest Shiva temples in the world and is the highest of the five Panch Kedar temples located in the mountain range of Tungnath. The Tungnath (literal meaning: Lord of the peaks) mountains form the Mandakini and Alaknanda river valleys. It is located at an altitude of 3,680 m (12,073 ft), and just below the peak of Chandrashila and is the third (Tritiya Kedar) in the pecking order of the Panch Kedars. It has a rich legend linked to the Pandavas, heroes of the Mahabharata.

We shall return by 12pm with an easy trek. We drive 76 km and Reach Rishikesh by 9-11pm. Overnight stay in Rishikesh at our campsite. This campsite also has pool, Great view and river side property. A soft copy of the certificate for completion of this trek will be present to each participant by Tonybikecentre. Meals: Breakfast & Dinner (Dinner only possible if we reach on time at Rishikesh if due to heavy traffic if we reach late than clients need to pay for dinner in route at any Dhaba we stop by)

 

Day 6: Rishikesh to Delhi

Today I woke up around 8-9am. Have your last breakfast with us and we shall drive back to Delhi. Afterwards this soul nourishing journey to the Kedarnath we shall bid adieu each other from Delhi. we shall reach by 3pm at Delhi. This journey and this trek are going to change you and your inner self.

How to Reach

By Air

Jolly Grant Airport is the airport serving Dehradun, located about 25 km from the city. There is a daily flight from Delhi to Dehradun. Come one day early if planning to come by flight.

By Train

Take the overnight train to Dehradun from Delhi Nandadevi Express – Train no: 12205 (Departure 11:50pm; Arrival – 5:40am) Dehradun Express – Train no: 12687 (Departure – 9:10pm; Arrival – 5:00am)

By Bus

There is regular bus service from Delhi to Dehradun, from Delhis ISBT Kashmere Gate. We would suggest you to take only government buses from ISBT Kashmere Gate.Usually buses drop you at Dehradun ISBT. From there you have to come to Dehradun Railway Station

What kind of food does Tonybikecentre provide?

Tonybikecentre India provides Indian vegetarian food. Your typical meal will consist of roti (Indian bread), sabzi (vegetable), dal (lentils) and rice. We serve three meals a day – breakfast, lunch and dinner. Apart from that, you’ll get tea and snacks in the evening and a hot cup of soup before dinner. If you’re in for a long day of trekking, you’ll get a packed snack as well.

Our menu is designed after elaborate research on nutritional requirements for trekkers. We take the exercise put in, the altitude gained and the weather you’ll face into consideration before putting each meal together. You’ll notice that every meal is nutritionally well-balanced with the right amount of carbs, protein, vitamins, fibre and calories.
